Caspian Learning Testimonial
Lee Rushworth - Caspian Learning
One of the world's most unique 3D game and computer simulation design companies made St Peter's Gate its home to take advantage of the local skills base. The region's universities are producing some of the top programmers in the UK and Caspian Learning is taking full advantage of this.
Caspian is a leader in the development of 3D games and simulations technology for education, training and engagement. The company has created more than 50 immersive simulations for sectors as diverse as defence, entertainment, publishing, pharmaceuticals, automotive and education.
Lee Rushworth, marketing executive with Caspian Learning, said: "Due to the quality of our staff, we've been able to develop Thinking Worlds, a globally unique 3d authoring tool and game engine that enables designers to create 3d simulations rapidly."
"Games created with Thinking Worlds are used as part of many education and training programs which can be delivered over the internet. We license the technology out to partners across the world."
The company:
- was founded in 2002 by two neuroscientists who were looking to integrate the way people learn with what is known as immersive simulations - where an individual assumes an identity on screen.
- has now a team of expert programmers and developers at St Peter's Gate working for clients including the BBC, MOD, Volvo and Quinetiq and other overseas clients in South America, China, USA and Europe.
Lee said: "A lot of talented 3D technical artists and programmers are coming out of the region's universities and Caspian Learning is helping to keep this talent in the North East."
"St Peter's Gate is great for us. It's got modern facilities and really good transport links, which is a bonus for staff and visiting clients. Many of our staff use the nearby Metro while others coming by car have ample parking."
